Full text of the story
Autumn had arrived in Vrindavan, and the forest had become very beautiful.
Lotuses were blooming in the rivers, and the air smelled fresh.
The peacocks danced with their bright tails spread wide, and the bees buzzed merrily, flying from flower to flower. Everything around seemed to breathe happiness and love, for Vrindavan is a place where every blade of grass is filled with divine beauty and love.
Krishna, Balarama, and their friends were grazing the cows together. Smiling, Krishna said: “Balarama, look how beautiful the forest is! Listen, I am going to play My flute.” Happily, Balarama replied: “Go ahead, Krishna! Your music always makes everyone happy!”
Krishna brought the flute to His lips and began to play a gentle, beautiful melody. As soon as the first notes sounded, everyone grew still and listened, mesmerised.
The cows slowed down, then stopped, listening to the flute. Their eyes opened wide, and their ears stood straight up as they tried to catch every note. It was as if they were saying to one another how beautiful the music was.
The peacocks spread their colourful tails and began to dance, stomping their feet with joy, enchanted by the magical sound.
The monkeys stopped swinging on the vines and hung quietly, listening in surprise. They looked around, realising that it was Krishna playing, and tried to see Him among the trees. All the animals smiled and stood motionless, captivated by the magical music of the flute.
Lalita said enthusiastically: “Did you hear that? It is Krishna playing His flute!”
“My heart becomes so happy when He plays!” Radharani replied joyfully.
Dreamily, Lalita continued: “And how beautiful He looks! He has a peacock feather on His head, a garland of fragrant flowers, and His clothes sparkle like the sun!”
Radharani said admiringly: “Yes! His music is so magical that even the clouds come to hide Him from the sun.”
High above, the clouds drifted gently across the sky, speaking softly among themselves, ready to protect Krishna from the sun because He was their dear friend.
The River Yamuna flowed gracefully nearby and offered her most beautiful flowers to Krishna, wishing to give Him all her lotuses.
Vrindavan became filled with happiness as Krishna played His flute. Even the birds and the trees felt joyful simply being near Him. Together, everyone seemed to reply with grateful hearts, thanking Krishna for making their world a happier place. Krishna smiled and played the final tune. Everyone cheered and danced joyfully to the sweet, happy music.
Krishna said gently: “This music is a gift for all those who love Me!”
