Narasimha Avatar: the half-man, half-lion

Hiranyakashipu obtained a boon that no man and no animal could kill him, not by day or by night, not inside or outside, not on the ground or in the air. Then his own son Prahlada began to worship the Lord, and the father could not bear it.

When he struck a pillar and asked whether the Lord was in it too, the Lord came out — neither man nor lion, at dusk, on the threshold, on His own lap.

The story is about protection, not about horror: Prahlada is never once afraid, and the film keeps it that way.
