Ramayana: the story of Diwali

4 min · Ages 4–11

Source: MocomiKids · YouTube

Why every house lights lamps when Rama comes home.

Full text of the story

The whole Ramayana in five minutes, told as the answer to one question: why do people light lamps on that particular night?

Because the lamps of Ayodhya were lit for the return of Rama, Sita and Lakshmana after fourteen years in the forest. Everything else — the golden deer, the ocean bridge, Hanuman, Ravana — is here in the shortest form.
