Hanuman Meets Rama

1. Hanuman approached Rama and Lakshmana disguised as a young brahmana. His words were respectful, clear and wise.
2. Rama quietly praised Hanuman's beautiful speech to Lakshmana. He recognized the heart of a great devotee.
3. Lakshmana told Hanuman about Sita's abduction and their search. Hanuman's compassion immediately awakened.
4. Hanuman returned to his vanara form and offered to carry the brothers up the hill. Rama accepted his service.
5. Sugriva greeted Rama nervously because he had suffered betrayal. Hanuman helped both sides speak openly.
6. Rama and Sugriva promised friendship beside a sacred fire. Each would help end the other's sorrow.
7. Sugriva explained how a misunderstanding with his powerful brother Vali had driven him from the kingdom. Vali had also taken Sugriva's wife and home.
8. A sage's curse prevented Vali from entering Rishyamukha Hill. Sugriva and his friends lived there in safety but constant worry.
9. Sugriva showed the jewels Sita had dropped while Ravana carried her through the sky. Rama held them with tears.
10. Lakshmana recognized Sita's anklets because he daily bowed at her feet. His respectful service had guided even what he noticed.
11. Rama promised to restore Sugriva's rightful place. Sugriva promised to send vanaras everywhere to find Sita.
12. Sugriva wondered whether anyone could overcome Vali. His long fear made trust difficult.
13. Rama sent one arrow through seven great trees and deep into the earth. Sugriva's doubt disappeared.
14. Hanuman watched Rama with growing love and confidence. He knew his life had found its true master.
15. The new friends descended the hill to challenge Vali. A promise made in dharma was about to be fulfilled.
